  • Born and lived in Auckland. Attended naval school in Devonport early in 1940 and was then sent to the U.K. He was a commissioned officer in the Royal Navy, was sent to Singapore on the HMS Electra early in 1942, was subsequently captured by the Japanese and was a P.O.W. in Sumatra until being repatriated in 1945 to Auckland, NZ. He spent some time in the Narrowneck Naval Hospital. Family source. AWMM
