      Citation for Distinguished Flying Cross, 14 July 1942, "As an observer, Warrant Officer Hogg has completed a large number of operational sorties against targets in Germany. He has participated in numerous operations against enemy aerodromes in northern France, Holland and Belgium. He has always displayed great courage, while persistence and skill in bombing enemy aerodromes at night has been most marked." Citation for Bar to Distinguished Flying Cross, 22 June 1944, "Since being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross this officer has completed a large number of sorties, many of them far into enemy territory and often in adverse weather. He is an observer of high merit and has played a worthy part in the successes obtained in attacks on a variety of targets, including railways installations and locomotives. Flying officer Hogg has set an excellent example of determination and devotion to duty." by Such Deeds, p. 255 AWMM

  • Frank (as I knew him) was a thinking man. He worked in civil aviation at the Wellington head office. I was married to his son during this time.
    However, although he returned uninjured from the war, later in life he had flashbacks of helping wounded and deceased airmen out of their planes, to send them home. He did not recover from this.
    He really enjoyed rhodedendrons and planted as many as he could around his home at 165 Cecil Rd Wadestown.
    He moved in with us in Wanuiomata after a major stroke. He died a couple of years later.
