  • I was born in Auckland, We lived in Clevedon on Creightons Road and after Ardmore Primary I graduated from 6BSci at Papakura High. In March 1966 Alan A Hawke a school mate and I travelled to Australia on the Oriental Queen ( HMS Kanimbla) landing in Sydney on 8 March. We worked at Mt Morgan Mine, Queensland Rail at Fetlers and a season at Mourilyn Sugar Mill near Cairns, before returning to Rockhampton for Christmas. I had my 21st birthday on 20 August 1967 and was Drafted into the Australian Army on the 3 October 1967. Alan Hawke went back to New Zealand, became a Geologist, Met Michele another Geologist and they worked in PNG.

    After Vietnam, I returned to NZ on 5th November 1969 and found I was a different person, I felt I didn't fit in so I returned to Australia and in 1973 Married a Rockhampton Lady and in 2009 I was awarded a Order Of Australia OAM for Services to Veterans. Up to this day I continue to assist Veterans in need. AWMM
