  • Peter Kinrod Tait first trained as Boy 2 at HMS Ganges, the 'stone frigate' of the Royal Navy in Shotley, England. Returning to New Zealand in September 1947 Peter was promoted to Boy Telegraphist Provisional while serving on HMNZS Tamaki on the 25th November 1947.

    Peter served aboard HMNZS Tutira as part of the first contribution by New Zealand to the Korean War. His experiences of life aboard ship during the time were dutifully recorded in his diary and remain a treasured possession of his family. AWMM
