    Obituary MR E. C. LOUGHRAN

A blind man who worked as a reporter for the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation in Christchurch died suddenly at his home yesterday. He was Mr Eugene Carter Loughran, aged 44. Mr Loughran had been a familiar sight in Christchurch with his guide dog, Cass, after he joined the N.Z.B.C. in June last year. He was due to resume duties with the N.Z.B.C. today after several weeks in hospital for an operation. Mr Loughran came to Christchurch from Invercargill where he worked as a technician for the Post Office. Cass was the first guide dog in Invercargill. Mr Loughran is survived by his wife and three children. Press, Volume CX, Issue 32431, 19 October 1970, Page 18 AWMM
