  • Embarked Melbourne, 4 August 1917; disembarked Glasgow, Scotland, 2 October 1917; marched in to No 3 Details Camp, Parkhouse, 3 October 1917. Transferred to Artillery Details, Larkhill, 6 October 1917, and mustered as Gunner.
    Found guilty, 9 November 1917, of overstaying leave at Heytesbury from 6 am to 8 pm, 8 November 1917: admonished, and forfeited 1 day's pay.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 16 January 1918; taken on strength, 10th Field Artillery Brigade, 22 January 1918.
    Appointed Driver, 26 February 1918.
    Wounded in action, 8 August 1918 (shrapnel wound, right shoulder), and admitted to 13th Australian Field Ambulance; transferred to 22nd General Hospital, 9 August 1918; to 6th Convalescent Depot, Etaples, 15 August 1918; to Australian Convalescent Depot, Havre, 25 August 1918; to Australian General Base Depot, Havre, 12 September 1918; rejoined unit, 20 September 1918.
    Admitted to 134th Field Ambulance, 10 October 1918 (lumbago), and transferred same day to 41st Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train, 11 October 1918, and admitted to 3rd Stationary Hospital, Rouen, 12 October 1918. Transferred to England, 14 October 1918, and admitted to Royal Hampshire Convalescent Hospital, Winchester, 15 October 1918. Discharged on furlough, 8 November 1918, to report to No 4 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 22 November 1918.
    Charged with being absent without leave, 22 November 1918: case dismissed.
    Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Orontes', 20 January 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 30 January 1919; discharged (medically unfit), 19 June 1919. AWMM
