    Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 23 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 30 March 1916.
    Appointed Temporary 2nd Corporal, 19 August 1916.
    Admitted to No 2 Convalescent Depot, Rouen, 11 November 1916 (influenza); transferred to 6th General Hospital, Rouen, 14 November 1916; to No 2 Convalescent Depot, 20 November 1916; discharged to Base Details, 25 November 1916.
    Reverted to the ranks at own request, 9 May 1917.
    Transferred to Australian Army Postal Corps, 10 May 1917.
    Attached to Army OPost Office No 3, Boulogne, 16 October 1917.
    Found guilty, 27 March 1918, of being absernt from duty in that he failed to proceed to Calais by lorry when ordered to do so at 1.30 pm, 24 March 1918, and only reported himself at 12.45 pm: awarded 3 days' confined to barracks, and forfeited a total of 2 days' pay.
    On leave to the United Kingdom, 20 January 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 3 February 1918.
    On leave to Paris, 3 November 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 12 November 1918.
    Marched out to England for Special Leave, 28 Novenmber 1918; granted 75 days' leave in the United Kingdom, 2 December 1918.
    Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Kigoma', 20 May 1920; disembarked Melbourne, 15 July 1920; discharged (termination of period of enlistment), 23 October 1920. AWMM
