    • Proceeded to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 16 August 1915. Reported missing, 5 September 1915; subsequently reported as alive. Admitted to 5th Field Ambulance, 28 October 1915; transferred to hospital ship, 29 October 1915 (jaundice); to St Patrick's Hospital, Malta, 2 November 1915; discharged to active service, 20 December 1915, and embarked for Egypt. Taken on strength, Overseas Base, Ghezireh, Egypt, 27 December 1915; rejoined 18th Bn, 5 February 1916. Transferred to 5th Machine Gun Company, 8 March 1916.
      Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 17 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 23 March 1916.
      Appointed Lance Corporal, 16 April 1917; Temporary Corporal, 8 May 1917; reverted to Lance Corporal, 11 June 1917; Temporary Corporal, 3 July 1917; Corporal, 12 July 1917; Sergeant, 20 September 1917.
      Killed in action, Belgium, 9 October 1917.
