Was one of three sons of William Albert Comport and Ellen (Nel) Comport (nee Cutbush), who were all killed in action during the Great War. His brothers' names were Harry (Henry) Comport and William Charles Comport.

Albert Comport's war record is not with New Zealand Defence. Proof of death is with the OIC Base Records, Melbourne.

A New Zealand Certified Copy of Entry of Death in the War Register from the Registrar-General's Office states the Date of Registration of death as 19 March 1918, although the date of death was 20 July 1916.
