  • Son of Mrs Annie Anderson and Mr Hans Martin Anderson of Palmerston Road. (Source: Births, Deaths and Marriages (New Zealand) Historical Records online)

    His brother, Arthur Martin Anderson (28642) also saw active service in WW1.

    Otto was educated at Glenfield School and Otto served two years in the Auckland Garrison and was transferred to the A Battery in which he was a driver for three years. He served his time as a blacksmith to Mr. Clark of Birkenhead and from there went to Sydney where he joined the police force.' (Auckland Star, 25 September 1915)

    Otto was living in Australia when war broke out. He enlisted in the 3rd Australian Light Horse Regiment, was made a Trooper, and left with the main body for Egypt. (Auckland Star, 25 September 1915)
