    Found guilty by Field General Court Martial of being absent without leave, 21-29 July 1917: awarded 21 days' forfeiture of pay.
    Admitted to hospital, 20 October 1917 (synovitis, right knee); rejoined unit, 14 November 1917.
    Promoted Corporal, 22 January 1918; Sergeant, 1 April 1918.
    Application for discharge in United Kingdom, 3 December 1919, rejected. Declared an illegal absentee as from 21 January 1920; reported back in London, 3 April 1920, and discharged as from 6 March 1920.
