    Taken on strength, 3rd Bn, Tel el Kebir, 6 January 1916.
    Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 23 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France (stowaway), 30 March 1916.
    Found guilty, 4 April 1916, of being absent without leave from 1300, 22 March, to 1600, 23 March 1916: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited 2 days' pay.
    Admitted to 1st Australian Field Ambulance, 28 August 1916 (defective teeth), and transferred to 10th Casualty Clearing Station (no subsequent details of discharge to duty recorded).
    On leave to United Kingdom, 17 January 1917; rejoined unit from leave, 7 February 1917.
    Admitted to 1st Australian field Ambulance, 20 February 1917, and transferred to Divisional rest Station; to England, 22 March 1917 (acute appendicitis), and admitted to 3rd Southern General Hospital, 23 March 1917; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 18 April 1917; discharged to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 14 May 1917.
