  • Joined AIF August 1914, fought with artillery at Gallipoli & on Somme 1916. Transferred to RNR joined Q-ship HMS Dunraven, then patrol vessels, torpedo boat 33 to July 1918, was serving in HMS Vivid at the time of the Armistice -awarded MM & Bar in AIF, and DSC for Dunraven action with UC-71 in 8 August 1917. Lieutenant Walter Frame's Distinguished Service Cross and other medals are on display in the Australian War Memorial, Main building: First World War Gallery: Western Front 1917: Transport 2/RAN in Northern Waters.
