  • Joseph King was recognized by his mates in Lithgow as a 'Gallipoli Hero'. He was an Anzac who landed on 25th April, suffered from shell shock and received a medical discharge. He re-enlisted some six months later under his full name of Joseph Peter King and was discharged on medical grounds again. Joseph in his attempts to 'do his bit', sought employment at the Lithgow Small Arms Factory which supplied the AIF with Lee-Enfield rifles. Joseph was a true ANZAC and someone of whom his family and the community which adopted him as one of their own will remembered with pride.
