    • Eldest son of Ada and Albert Everett.

      Head of the School at Nelson College.

      Seven children served from the same family in WW1: three sisters were serving as nurses Claire (22/538) and Dorothy (22/537), and Viola (AIF ); three brothers George Gordon Everett, Gerald Gordon Everett(2/215) Frank Gordon Everett (2/2117) and step-brother, Ralph Watson served as soldiers. AWMM
    • George Everett always had ambitions to be a career soldier and served in the Military Cadets at Nelson College.
      1904 - George Everett receives a commission with the British Imperial Army - firstly serving with the 1st Battalion Somerset Light Infantry (Prince Albert's Own) - a British regiment stationed in India.
      1907 - Joins the 67th Punjabis, 2nd Battalion in the North West Frontier (border of India & Afghanistan - now Pakistan). George would serve 9 years with the 67th Punjabis and in 1913 was promoted to Captain.
      1914 - Transferred to Burma Military Police and would be stationed at Mandaly and Schwebo.
      1917 - Recalled to 67th Punjabis - due to a shortage of Officers in the Battalion. 3 days later Captain Everett was killed in an ambush of a camel supply convoy - by Mahsud Tribesmen - near Fort Nili Kach where the battalion was stationed.     • Captain George Everett was the grand son of former Nelson Mayor - Edward Everett. (1820-1904).

      3 of George's brothers (Gerald; Frank and step brother Ralph Watson) as well as 3 of George's
      sisters (Viola; Claire & Dorothy) served in World War 1. Gerald, Frank and Ralph as artillery gunners in France; Viola with the AIF Nursing service in Egypt and Claire & Dorothy as NZ Nursing sisters - England.     • George Everett was an Old Boy of Nelson Boys College - which he attended from 1900-1904.
      He excelled at Nelson College - both academically and on the sports field:
      Member of the XV - 1901-1904 (Team Captain : 1904); Member of XI - 1903-1904.
