  • Second of four children of John McIndoe and Mabel Hill (a well known New Zealand Artist). Brother of John Leslie McIndoe (9014) also an artist and a POW in WW2.

    Graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) in 1923 from University of Otago Medical School. McIndoe started an intership with Waikato Hospital, but had recieved a recommendation for a scholarship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

    Consultant plastic surgeon to the Royal Air Force (RAF) at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead during WWII. Patients at the hospital formed the Guinea Pig Club. AWMM
