  • CO 1 RNZIR 1968-1970. Signed in to Victor Company Sgts Mess Visitors Book on 29 August 1968 escorted by his RSM WO1 Graeme Brighouse (NAM Collection). Died and buried in Wellington.

    From Chamberlain: Seconded to Kayforce and appointed Liaison Officer at Headquarters Commonwealth Division but was attached to 3 Royal Australian Regiment. Struck of Strength Kayforce and posted to Regular Force November 1952. Northern Military District Training Cadre staff September 1950 to November 1952. Adjutant Wellington Regiment, member of the Coronation Contingent, March to August 1953. Served in 1 NZ Regiment in Malaya September 1961- November 1963 and was appointed Company Commander, on return to New Zealand, was posted to Army Headquarters and appointed GSO2 (Training) and GSO2 (Plans). Posted to 1 Bn Depot August 1966 and became Commanding Officer 1 Bn Depot and assumed command of 1 Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment November 1967. Appointed MBE New Year Honours 1967. Served in Malaysia November 1967-December 1969, during which time he visited his men serving in Vietnam. Attended Joint Services Staff College, Australia January to June 1970. Director of Training at Army General Staff, July 1970. Retired on the 18 June 1974.
