  • Came from Tauranga. Driver RNZASC before service in the Battalion. Poananga's Battalion. Deplaned Changi 24 Nov 65. Transport Platoon, HQ Company. Served as driver/storeman in Borneo 20 Jul - 2 Oct 66. Was initially issued with GSM 1962 but had to return the medal as his service was outside the qualification dates which ended on 11 August. It is not known if the medal was recovered. Returned to NZ 16 Nov 1967. Also served in South Vietnam deplaning Saigon 4 Dec 68 and served in V3 where he was appointed rifleman/MG Number until 1 Nov 69. Taken on Strength in W2 Company 1 Nov 69 (for six days) until 6 Nov 69 while awaiting return to Singapore. Re-posted to Transport Platoon. Emplaned Changi for return to NZ 28 Jul and deplaned NZ 29 Jul 70. Later LCpl, posted to A Platoon, 3 Transport Squadron, Burnham. Discharged Jun 1974. Served a further seven years in Territorial Force. Living in Western Australia 2002. Vietnam medals received 2 Feb 71. AWMM
