  • Served in the QM Platoon HQ Company 1 NZ REGT/1RNZIR 1963–66 and again in 1967–69. He did a short tour with W1 towards the end of the its tour in late 1968. In 1975 he changed Corp to RNZAOC. In took his release in February 1981. AWMM

    Manawatu Standard on Oct. 30, 2021 "EVANS, Arthur John: Regt. No. 714590, S/Sgt, 1RNZIR. Of Ashhurst, on Friday 29th October 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Aged 84. Loved father and father-in-law of Lee-Anne and Steve, and Bruce. Loved Grandad of Patrick and Danielle, and Corey and Rhianne, Sheree and the late Sarah; Jade, Alexander, and William; and great-Grandad of Greer, Olivia, and Kaiden. Messages for the Evans family, c/- PO Box 5191, Palmerston North 4441. A service for Arthur will be held in the Terracehaven Chapel, 697 Main Street, Palmerston North, on Wednesday 3rd November 2021, at 10.30am." AWMM
