    • NEWZAD was the first formed unit sent to Vietnam. An Engineer unit (RNZE), it was deployed on 29 June 1964. NEWZAD was "Engineers" Royal New Zealand Engineers (RNZE). RNZEME is a different "corp". RNZE build/construct bridges/buildings/roads etc. They are known/rank as "Sappers". RNZEME repair vehicles/radios/weapons etc...They are known/rank as "Craftsmen". There were x33 RNZE (engineer/sappers), x2 RNZAMC (medics), x1 RNZAC (armoured corp) & x4 RNZEME (technicians/craftsmen) Total 40.
