  • Enlisted at age 20, Rangi served in 1NZ Regt in Malaya as a section commander and Mortar Pl NCO, he then served in 1 Ranger Sqn NZSAS until 1965 and was promoted to Cpl. He served in Malaysia again with 1RNZIR from 1965 to 1968 in Borneo and Vietnam as a Pl Sgt and Mortar Detachment commander. On his return to New Zealand, he was posted to 7WN&HB Regt as a Cadre NCO followed by a TOD in the National Service Training Unit in Waiouru. He retired from the NZ Army on (date tba). AWMM
