    • Testimonal from Lieutenant Colonel L.J. Gardiner. "Warrant Officer Class One Wilson Douglas Simonsen enlisted into the Army as a Private Rifleman in the Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment in November 1968. Over the period of May 1970 to May 1971 he had a twelve month tour of duty with a Rifle Company in South Vietnam. In October 1976 Warrant Officer Simonsen changed Corps and Trade to Storeman/Clerk in the Royal New Zealand Ordnance Corps and was posted to the 3rd Central Ordnance Depot in Burnham. During his twenty two years service, Warrant Officer Simonsen has been posted to New Zealand based Infantry and Ordnance Units in Burnham, Waiouru and Trentham and has had two postings to the Singapore based Infantry Battalion and one posting to the New Zealand Advance Ordnance Depot, also in Singapore ... In May 1989 he was made a Conductor (one of four) in the Royal New Zealand Army Ordnance Coprs. This is a prestiguous appointment awarded to selected RNZAOC Warrant Officers Class One and is based on dedicated, loyal, and meritorious service throughout their career."
