    Military Medal (MM) AWMM
    28 June 1945 AWMM
'As driver of a D8 recovery tractor of the 4 NZ Armoured Brigade Recovery Section, Private Bishop consistently displayed courage and devotion to duty of a high order. At GAMBETTOLA, Italy, in October 1944 and also during the attack on Faenza he was well forward under fire effecting recoveries and clearing roads of disabled tanks to enable repair works to proceed, thus largely assisting in the success of the operations. He showed complete disregard of danger and extreme devotion to duty by working day and night on many occasions while under shell-fire. At the Moro River he was across with his tractor ahead of the tanks and on several occasions went forward of the forward defended localities to recover tanks. His courage, calmness and cheerful acceptance of all tasks under all conditions of weather were a real inspiration to all who came in contact with him.'. (Source: The National Archives. Recommendation for Award for Bishop, Stanley Frank. (Ref. WO 373/12/447). Military Medal. AWMM
