      18 October 1945 AWMM
'On 6 April 1945 in the vicinity of the SENIO RIVER, Italy, Private Brown was a stretcher-bearer in D Company and repeatedly went out under heavy artillery, mortar and grenade fire to assist and bring in wounded. On each occasion he had to risk minefields but with complete disregard for his own safety carried out his duties. Through his efforts many men from his Company were successfully evacuated. Again on 9 April during the assault over the Senio and the subsequent advance on Lugo, Private Brown, in spite of defensive fire, snipers and anti-personnel mines, earned the undying gratitude of his comrades by his courage and devotion and the magnificent way in which he carried out his duties.'.
