    Joined RNZAF through the Boy Entrant School which was the cadet entry scheme of the time.

    Great Nephew of brothers Jack Burke (WWI 4/692) and Jim Burke (WWI 4/690)

    Flt Lt. Burke completed three tours of duty with 3 Squadron logging approximately 4000 hours flying. He has earlier served on 40,41 Squadrons as an airframe fitter and later served as Operations Officer on 42 Squadron (Source: Hanson, p.106)
