  • 'Bill' Marshall - my Dad. The powers that be said "Go and fight for your country". Dad loved his country totally, and would not have hesitated. How hard the reality of that fighting in Egypt, Crete and Cassino must have been for such a kind, loving 'people' person. He never shared any memories of those experiences - we can only imagine the horror. Like so many other returned servicemen those war experiences took their toll and Dad died suddenly and unexpectedly while only in his 50's.
