  • When returned from war Sandy worked on the Hauraki Plains Draining Scheme then on Cecil Symes' farm in Maramarua until his Rehab loan came through. He purchased 72 acres of this farm, buying a further 30 acres 20 years later when the original farm was sold. He had 5 children, 4 girls and 1 boy. He sold the farm in 1973 and retired to Thames, later moving to Whangamata. Sandy was a keen fisherman and played bowls for many years.(Source:Public source) AWMM
