  • Allan Hugh McLay was one of the early members of the 2nd Scottish Regiment (s/n 4/7/51)

    Allan Hugh McLay was a member of the Dunedin Highland Band as well as the 2nd Scottish Regiment Band. His brothers, Hector and Colin were also in the Dunedin Highland Band. As part of the Allied Day Parade in 1941, the Combined Pipe Bands paraded through the Dunedin Streets to the Octagon. Allan was Drum Major, Colin a piper and Hector was a tenor drummer in the parade. The bands would often perform on a Sunday in the Dunedin Botanic Gardens or at the St Clair Band Rotunda.

    12 March 1948 – Allan Hugh McLay married Thelma Rose Davis.
