    Became Director of MIlitary Hospitals in June 1915 and was attached to the Defence Department from 1918 until 1920. After this he returned to public health and headed the Department of Health until retirement in 1930 as Director General of Health. Source: Te Ara, The Encyclopedia of New Zealand.
