  • I knew ted from 1971 until his death during 1995 and worked along side him for 6 of those years. He was first assigned to active war service within RAF Bomber Command"s RAF 101 Squadron in Lincolnshire at the Ludford Magna airfield early in 1944 as part of the "Flying Cigar" radio night fighter jamming unit. He was regarded as an extremely capable "N" category air force navigator of which is noted within his service records by his 101 Squadron commanding Group Captain. It was my understanding from the many talks with Ted about his war years that he flew 75 Ops..of which he nearly completed 2 tours (60 ops) before being removed because of exhaustion and fatigue from night bombing in Avro Lancasters. He returned to operations within RAF Coastal Command's 242 Squadron until he fell sick again this time with a very critical dose of pneumonia..in his words..i nearly bloody died boy! He wa
