  • Flight Lieutenant Cargill became a member of the Goldfish Club, after running out of fuel and being forced to ditch in the sea, on the 9th July 1943 whilst on a trip from Tunis to Malta, two others on board Wireless Operator Flight Sergeant Hannan and a Royal Australian Air Force navigator. After eleven hours in the water Flight Lieutenant Cargill drifted ashore at Chergui Island (Hanson, p. 115). AWMM
