  • His aircraft, X3452, a Vickers Wellington Mk III medium bomber from the base at Feltwell, was coned by searchlights over the target of Hamburg on 29 July 1942. As it lost height in evading the lights it was hit by light AA fire and ditched in the River Elbe. Four of the five crew including Ronald became Prisoners of War and all survived captivity in Stalag VIIIB at Lamsdorf. AWMM
