  • Member of the 'Goldfish Club'. Flight Sergeant John Robert Green, was serving with the 490 Squadron on the 17th of July 1944, during the transit from the UK to freetown, trip from Port Etienne to Bathurst, a fire in the Port Outer motor cause the crew to ditch the aircraft in the ocean, they spent about 5 hours in the dinghy. They were then picked up the following day by 'Lobelia' and were taken to Dakar (Goldfish Club). AWMM
