    • Owen Leslie Hardy was born in Auckland New Zealand on July 31st,1922 and was educated at Seddon Memorial Technical College. He worked as a mechanical engineer until he joined the RNZAF in March 1941. After that he went to 61 OTU Heston England then RAF Squadrons 72, 485, 54, 247, 71. Finally at RAF North Coates as Wing Commander. He retired in 1969. He died in England on January 4th 2018. Public - Ian Banks - Researcher - 15 May 2020 - Research
    • Owen was awarded the DFC and Bar, the AFC and the Legion d' Honneur. In the Images, the two photos show Owen being taken for a flight in a Spitfire. This was on his 95 birthday July 31st, 2017 at Baultbee Flight Academy Chichester England. He took over the controls for 10 minutes or so and did a roll. He had not flown a Spitfire since 1947.
