  • Embarked for Halifax for training with the Royal Canadian Air Force on the 22nd June 1942, arriving on the 15th July. Re-enlisted with the Royal New Zealand Air Force on the 18th October 1949 to the 31st December 1961.

    "Served at Woodburne for 6 1/2 years as Director of Studies. During WWII served with costal command in the UK, Middle East and the Far East. In 1943 he was engaged in ferrying Wellington Air Craft from England to North Africa, joining 203 Sqn RAF (Wellington) at Benghazi in Nov. He then transferred to India with the Sqn, compleating a 12 month tour operating from India and Ceylon, converting liberators (still with 203 Sqn) in October 1944. In Dec 1944 he was posted to Palestine for duty with 78 Operational Training Unit RAF (Wellington), serving there until August 1945." Hanson, p. 240. AWMM
