  • Born in Canterbury 1897 and joined RN in 1910 was Midshipman 1914. Served August 1914 to March 1916 on HMS Prince George. Then posted to Queen Mary, serving in one of her turrets. One of only nine survivors of the sinking of the battlecruiser at Jutland 31 May 1916, Rescued by a German destroyer and interned as a POW to Armistice. Ended his naval service as a Lieutenant Commander.

    Resident Naval Officer, Suva, Fiji in the Second World War. Relinquished appointment in 1942. AWMM
