  • Private Murphy emabrkated for New Zealand with the 70 Regiment on the ship 'Louisa'. He was attacehd to the 2/14th Regiment when discharged. Hugh and Lyn Hughes. 'Discharged in New Zealand', p.115.

    After discharge he travelled to the Chatham Islands where he served as a Guard at the Wharekauri penal settlement and subsequently remained on the island. Public source. AWMM
