  • Acting Leading Airman Robert Ian Breingan was the son of Robert Breingan and Charlotte Yates Pointon of Ahuriri, educated at Napier Boys' High School and Wellington Teachers' Training College; Schoolteacher at Westshore School Napier.

    His date of enlistment is unknown, he arrived at St. Vincent's Naval Base, England, 28th August 1941, commenced his initial flying training, 21st April, 1942, at Daedalus, Sealand, before sailing for Canada, entered No.31 Service Flying School, RAF, Kingston, Ontario. AWMM
