  • Son of George William Cook (born in New Zealand) and Caroline Cook (Born in England)

    First joined the New Zealand Army, Registration number 434351, 6th Company NZASC
    Transferred to Royal New Zealand Navy 30 December 1943.

    On return to civilian life Arthur was a menswear salesman for Torrey Martin, corner Victoria Street West and Queen Street. The business was later moved to Customs Street East, next to Brookings Book Shop.
    Arthur married Dorothy Elizabeth Dalgarno; they had two sons and one daughter.

    On Torrey Martin retiring, Arthur went to manage Hugh Wright Men's Outfitters, in Lynn Mall Shopping Centre, New Lynn. From this shop Arthur transferred to Hugh Wright, Wellington to manage the outlets in the Wellington area. On Arthur retiring, Arthur and Dorothy moved to Thames.

    Arthur died 11 may 2004, a service celebrating Arthur's life was held at the Thames Baptist Church, with the Reverend Gordon Mill officiating, the funeral directors being Twentyman's Funeral Services. Following the passing of Arthur, Dorothy moved to a retirement village in Orewa. Dorothy Elizabeth Cook died 21 August 2015 aged 89 years, after a service in Auckland she was interred with Arthur at Totara Memorial Park, Thames. AWMM
