  • During the Second World War he served as Officer Commanding of the 4th Field Ambulance in Egypt, he was invalided to New Zealand following an Asthma attack aggrivated by the desert conditions, after a period of convalescence, he was appointed the Officer Commanding of the Medical Training Depot at Trentham.
