    • Served Egypt (1917-1919).
      Returned to New Zealand aboard HMT 'Kaikoura' - which left Suez, Egypt on 6 March 1919 - arriving New Zealand 12 June 1919.
      On November 20 1919 Evered - aged 22 years - was drowned when his dinghy overturned at Awaroa. He was 22 years of age. Public - Jenifer - Researcher - 25 May 2017 - Military File & Fairfax Media newspaper article.
    • Trooper Evered Rogers Hadfield (1897-1919).
      Service # 50700, Trooper, Canterbury Mounted Rifles, 12th (Nelson) Squadron, 31st Reinforcements, 1NZEF.
      Born 4 March 1897 - at 'Awaiti', Awaroa, Nelson Bays.
      Youngest child of William & Adele Hadfield - of 'Awaiti', Awaroa, Nelson Bays.
      Prior to enlistment for war service Evered was employed as an Engine Driver - at the sawmill owned by H. Baigent at Totaranui, Nelson Bays.
      Evered enlisted for war service 20 March 1917 - at Nelson - aged 20 years.
      Trooper Hadfield embarked from New Zealand - for overseas war service - on 13 November 1917 -aboard troop transport ship HMNZT 98 'Tofua'.
      Trooper Hadfield disembarked at Suez on 21 December 1917.
      He served at Egypt 1917-1918.
      On 31 May 1918 Trooper Hadfield was posted to the New Zealand Mounted Rifles Division, 10th (Nelson) Squadron, 1NZEF - at Moascar, Egypt.
      Between 13 June 1918 to 27 September 1918 Trooper Hadfield was admitted - sick with Malaria - to hospital at Abbassia, Egypt.
      On 6 March 1919 Trooper Hadfield was medically evacuated to New Zealand aboard HMT 'Kaikoura'.
      On 12 June 1916 Trooper Evered Hadfield was discharged from further war service with the 1NZEF - on account of illness contracted on active war service.
      6 months later - on 20 November 1919 - Evered Hadfield drowned at Awaroa Inlet, Nelson Bays - when the dinghy he was rowing cherries to a waiting ship - for the Nelson Christmas Market - overturned and Evered was drowned. His body was found by his family 3 days later in Awaroa Inlet. He was weeks away from marrying his childhood sweet-heart Eilleen Sears.
