  • For a number of years now I have been undertaking the task of researching and documenting my family history. This has led me to learn of the life and sacrifice of my Cousin William Alexander McQueen. His Mother, her sister and their respective husbands were immigrants to New Zealand and, along with many thousands of others, were vital to the early development of this country. The contribution of William Alexander McQueen, a first-generation New Zealander, to the first World War on behalf of this country was brave, extreme and should never be forgotten. I am proud to claim him as a forebear. It is so sad that he lost his life so near to wars end.
