    Proceeded overseas to France, 15 May 1918; joined No 2 NZ Entrenching Bn, in the field, 19 May 1918.
    Admitted to 2/2 Wessex Field Ambulance, 18 June 1918; transferred to No 3 Casualty Clearing Station (stomach infection); to 9th USA General Hospital, Rouen, 20 June 1918; to England, 23 June 1918, and admitted to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 24 June 1918 (gastritis: slight). Transferred to Countess of Middlesex War Hospital, Napsbury, 6 August 1918 (delusional insanity).
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Southampton on board 'Marama', 19 December 1918; discharged (no longer physically fit for War Service: delusional insanity), 28 March 1919.
    Total war service: 1 year 221 days (of which 1 year 69 days was abroad)
