  • Marcussen's rank was confirmed as Corporal on 24 September 1917

    Marcussen left for France on 10 September and marched into camp at Etaples. That very day he fell ill with dysentery. He was transferred to No.1 NZGH, Brockenhurst on 29 November and classified as 'Dangerously Ill'. He died of bronco-pneumonia on 4 December. (Church, p.176)
