    • Attended Auckland University College (now the University of Auckland). AWMM
    • Clarence was the oldest of three boys and three girls.
      Born in Cambridge, NZ, he studied law in Auckland, however this study was interrupted by his War service in France.

      Clarence and his family lived on Grafton Road, Auckland and later on Cleveland Road in Parnell, Auckland.

      Clarence did not tell people that his middle name was Clutterbuck, although he was named after an important relative in England.

      On his return form war he married Myra Smith, a nurse, they lived in Devonport, Auckland and later bought a farmlet in Okura (near Silverdale). This venture was unsuccessful and was sold. Clarence then worked for Billie Nicholson, a Customs Agent in Auckland. Myra and Clarence lived on Bell Road, Remuera, Auckland.

      They had one son, Humphrey.
