  • Awarded the MC for" This chaplain has always been untiring in his efforts to cheer and look after the comforts of the men. Before the attack on Rossignol Wood he went round the whole of the Front Line distributing gifts to the troops. During the attack and afterwards, he personally supervised Stretcher Bearer squads and under very heavy machine guns and shellfire, assisted in getting in all the wounded. By his utter disregard for his personal safety and his splendid devotion to his duty he has won the admiration of all." • I am Albert Turley's great grand daughter. I have registered to walk 'The Crossing' which is the re-enactment of the final part of soldier training for World War One where 60 000 soldiers marched over the Rimutaka Hills. We will walk 21 km 100 years after the first troops marched over. I will walk in memory of Albert Turley who marched over in 1918.
