  • The following information is from the eulogy given at the funeral of my Great Uncle Oss Date of birth 17th July 1897 Married on 23rd December 1925 - no children Date of Death 19th June 1987 He enlisted in the 3rd Auckland Regiment, 1st NZ Expeditionary Force (I was unable to enter any information in the Biographical Information) He was one of the 4 founding members of the NZ Society of Magicians He was always good humoured and we loved visiting him not only for the little bits of magic he showed us but also he made wonderful cakes and jams - afternoon teas were great - he was the only man we knew who could cook!

  • In memory of Great Uncle Os a wonderfully funny man who fascinated us as children with his magic tricks. My abiding memory of him in connection with the war is a photo taken at his barracks of him balancing bayonets on his chin while other soldiers watched through the window. An image that will stay with me for ever.
