  • I have inherited several letters written by Sydney to his sister Mercy while he was on convalescent leave in England. While the letters do not say much about the war, but they do tell of his meeting up with his English aunts, uncles and cousins in England. He would never have had the opportunity to meet these relatives on the other side of the world if it hadn't been for World War One. He came home. I have very fond memories of 'Uncle Syd' and his home at Albany.
