  • He emigrated to New Zealand with his family in 1913.

    He started work as a Grocers Assistant in Kaiapoi.

    He entered the Army in 1918 and went to England but did not go into action as the Armistice was signed shortly after he arrived in England.

    On his return to Kaiapoi went back to his old job and eventually bought his own store.

    He was Gold Star member of the NZRSA which was awarded for his long service to the RSA in New Zealand.

    He retired around 1962, he was cremated and his ashes are spread at the base of a tree in the Community Services Court in the grounds of the Johns Road Crematorium in Christchurch.(Recollections by his son,2016) AWMM
