  • Husband of Daisy Evelyn Mason
    Posted as a Gunner to New Zealand Field Artillery on 9 November 1917
    Embarked onboard ship Balmoral Castle at Wellington on 24 April 1918, disembarking at London on 21 June 1918
    Marched into camp on same day, then was admitted to No 2 New Zealand General Hospital, Walton on Thames with influenza on 27 June 1918, discharged to Aldershot, and sent back to camp on 5 July 1918.
    Left for France on 11 September 1918, marched into camp at Etaples on 13 September, then marched to 20th General Hospital at Camiens on 15 September 1918 for Scabies, being discharged on 18 September.
    Posted to 5th Battery, New Zealand Field Artillery while in the field on 2 October 1918
    Wounded with a gunshot to the right shoulder on 22 October 1918, admitted to Field Ambulance on same day, then admitted to 19 Casualty Clearing station on same day, then admitted to 49th Casualty Clearing station on same day, then next day on 23 October transferred to HT 19, going to 18 General Hospital at Cameirs on 24 October 1918.
    Appointed to Cook at a New Zealand Camp, returning to New Zealand from London onboard SS Matatua on 4 April 1919, arriving on 28 June 1919
